Welcome to Utahns for Public Schools
Thank you to all of our supporters who helped us defeat Referendum 1, the flawed voucher law that would have diverted hundreds of millions of dollars in public funds to unaccountable private schools. The decisive victory in the November election shows that Utahns want to see their tax dollars invested in public schools, where 96% of Utah children are educated.
With the voucher referendum behind us, our coalition is focused on advocating for the kinds of meaningful change that will meet the growing needs of Utah students. On our redesigned website, we are providing information and tools for citizens and policy makers who want to make a difference in their communities.
Check out these new features:
UTPS Education Policy Principles
What elements contribute to a great public school system that meets the needs of all students? UTPS has put together a list of principles to help policymakers craft sound education policy and to help the public evalutate proposals intended to improve our schools.
Countdown to Caucus
This election year provides great opportunities for citizens to influence the future of education in Utah. Delegates elected at neighborhood caucuses, which were held on March 25th, will make a big difference by helping to determine which names will appear on the ballot. Visit our Countdown to Caucus section for important information about the neighborhood party caucuses, delegates, and conventions.
We're excited to hear from people who attended their caucuses this year--especially if it was your first time. You may share your experience with us by emailing it to info@utahnsforpublicschools.org.
This site is your resource for information on education issues facing the state of Utah. We hope you will visit often and join our efforts to strengthen public schools and improve education for all Utah students.
